The Ways in Which Energy is Produced
One of man’s greatest innovations is the discovery of electrical power. Mankind has made it’s most advanced forward leaps using this power source Elecricity simply stated is produced by burning other types of energy known as fossil fuels. More recently nuclear fission, water, and wind have contributed as a source of fuel. Let’s now look at other methods of producing electricity.
One method that’s used to generate electricity is a large turbine. These require turning to generate power and there are many of ways that this can be undertaken.
The burning of fossil fuel is used to generate electricity as the blades of the turbine are turned using steam. Furnaces are used to heat the necessary water that produces the vapour. Suffice to say that fossil fuels such as gas, coal and petroleum are burnt to heat the water. The problem with using this method is that large quantities of carbon dioxide is releasedcirculated into the atmosphere creating pollution.

Another method that can be harnessed to move the turbines is water. Natural water resources are formed and chanelled in to what’s called a dam. This huge body of water creates enough pressure to flow through the blades of the tubine which then rotates to generate electricity. This is a more atmosphericaly friendly system as toxic waste is not given out into the air. This does have however, damaging effects to the ecosystem of the reservoir body.
Almost ninety percent of the power produced using renewable resources comes from using water.
Wind is also a resource that can be harnessed to generate electricity. Nuclear energy also helps to make electricity. This occurs under laboritory conditions where neutrons are used to split uranium nuclei into atoms. This makes heat which in turn converts water to vapour that drives the turbines that create power.
